About Rug Grip
Rug Grip is the specialist rug underlay division of Rugmart, one of the largest independent rug retailers in the South East of England. Our Guildford showroom holds over 10,000 rugs — Persian, Afghan and Oriental hand-knotted pieces through to modern, contemporary and bespoke designs — which means underlay isn't a side interest for us. It's something we deal with, and get asked about, every single day.
We understand rugs, not just grippers
Most rug gripper sellers only ever see the gripper. We see the rug too. Years of fitting, recommending and troubleshooting underlays for thousands of customers in our showroom has taught us that the right gripper depends entirely on the rug and the floor it's going on — a thick, heavy hand-knotted wool rug on a hardwood floor behaves completely differently to a lightweight synthetic runner on fitted carpet. A hessian- or cotton-backed rug has no grip of its own and needs a different solution. Get the pairing wrong, and even a "premium" underlay will bunch, curl, slip, or wear out your rug or your floor prematurely. Because we sell the rugs themselves, we're able to advise on the right underlay from real, practical experience — not a spec sheet.
We import directly, with no middlemen
Every underlay we sell is imported by us directly, without going through UK distributors or wholesalers. That means tighter control over the quality of the material that reaches you, and no unnecessary mark-up added along the supply chain. It's the same approach we've always taken with our rugs — dealing directly with source rather than through third parties — and we apply it just as rigorously to our underlays.
